Persian Blue

This is related to the color ultramarine, the historical name for a pigment made from crushed lapis lazuli. This shade is named after the blue color of some Persian pottery and tiles used in ancient buildings in the countries of the Middle East. More than any other color, blue inspired Persian makers down the centuries. It has talismanic and shamanistic associations, believed to be capable of repelling the evil eye.
